Description
The Chivor project began construction of the largest hydroelectric plant in Colombia. This plant located 160 km northwest of Bogotá, on the Bata River, in the Department of Boyacá, near Santa María, will have a capacity of 1,000,000 kilowatts and its development will take place in two stages of 500,000 kW of capacity each. The first 125,000 kW unit entered service in mid-1976 and the fourth unit, to complete the first 500,000 kW stage, was ready in December 1976. Units 5 to 8 are scheduled to be built in 1978.


Service Provided
Recovery of instability zone in the Chivor tunnel. The work consisted of removal of landslides and stabilization of the tunnel between the abscissas K0 900 to K1 150, including filling of gullies and maintenance of the access roads.
